With over 80 bridges built, we are connecting isolated rural communities across Kenya. We envision a world where every rural and isolated community is linked by safe and accessible footbridges, fostering thriving and empowered societies.

The Impact

In a Walking World, one pedestrian bridge provides safe crossings to thousands of people.

We are guided by the following core values:

  1. Safety: We prioritize the prevention of accidental drownings, ensuring secure and reliable passage across rivers for everyone in the communities we serve.

  2. Access: By building footbridges, we provide uninterrupted access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, empowering communities to thrive.

  3. Community Empowerment: We are committed to enhancing the quality of life in rural communities, fostering development by connecting them with the resources they need to succeed.

Connect. Empower. Be a bridge!

At Bridging the Gap Africa, our building process is rooted in community involvement. We believe that rural communities should be active participants in constructing their bridges, fostering a strong sense of ownership and pride in the project.

Community-Based

Bridge requests are initiated by community members who then form a committee to collaborate with us throughout the bridge-building process.

Community-Partcipation

We actively include local community members by hiring local laborers to help with construction, ensuring their involvement every step of the way.

Community-Empowerment

Upon completion, we hand over the bridge to the community in a celebratory ceremony, providing them with guidelines for ongoing maintenance.

Our team of engineers, in partnership with our Technical Advisory Committee, design our bridges with a focus on sustainability, continually refining and improving the plans to ensure they meet the highest standards and address the unique needs of each community for long-term impact.

  • There are bridges and there are bridges. Some transport children to school daily as with our partnership with Bridiging the Gap Africa on four community bridges so far. But these bridges are more than that. They are stories of hope, stories of dreams. Magical walkways to the future. Thank you and your unbelievable team.

  • Reagan's Crossing - I have no doubt the positive impact this is having on so many people and their lives. Truly proud of you and your commitment to helping so many people, and I'm happy we can be a small part of it.

  • The opening of the Kesoiyen footbridge means that farmers will be able to take their farm produce to market in time, school going children will not miss school when the river is flooded and there will be no danger of residents being swept away by the raging floods.

  • Grant's Crossing - On behalf of the Oloosokon community, I sincerely send my gratitude for your kind gesture in building this vital bridge. Our business will thrive, our children will go to school everyday. May God bless you abundantly.
